Born in a family of musicians, Ratheeshkumar was exposed to learning Violin at an early age of 6.  He was so fortunate to have his Arangettam at the tender age of 10. Ratheeshkumar graduated in Violin from the University of Jaffna in Sri Lanka and then went to the University of Madras in India to attain his Masters. Ratheeshkumar later become a Research Scholar in the United Kingdom. He was so privileged to be a disciple of Kalaimamani A.Kanyakumari and Embar S.Kannan, both from India.

Ratheeshkumar began his distinguished career as a Violin Artist in the Sri Lankan Broadcasting Corporation and later joined in Rupavahini Telecasting Corporation.  He is highly acclaimed as a solo and accompanying  artist with several performances and Arangetrams in Sri Lanka, India, Netherlands and United Kingdom to name a few.  Students have been so fortunate to receive inestimable lessons in violin from a talented professional musician like Ratheeshkumar for the past several years.
